Our Story

Real, candid, intelligent conversations about PT... over a beer. Listen

In 2014 Jimmy McKay went to the NEXT conference in Charlotte, NC as a 1st year PT student, and loved it! It was in a particular session about training tactical athletes that impacted him,

“The presentation was fascinating but, I only understood a portion of what the presenter was saying. It was over my head, but the parts I did understand made me want to know more but wasn’t willing to speak up in the room of a few hundred PT’s.”

So he kept his mouth shut and nodded along like everyone else.

Later that night at a PT happy hour Jimmy spotted that same presenter standing at the bar.

“I was two beers deep and figured, What the hell? So I introduced myself and told him while I loved his presentation, but I didn’t really understand all of it.  He was really excited that I wanted to know more and very conscious of the fact that I was a first year student. He didn’t talk like he did during the presentation, he talked to me like we were having a conversation, instead of a presentation.”

These were the kinds of conversations that he loved hearing. Real, candid, intelligent.

Before coming to PT school Jimmy was a rock radio DJ. Where his job was hosting a 5-hour daily radio show and getting to interview bands on a regular basis.  Some of his favorites were Linkin Park, Dave Matthews Band, Ozzy Osbourne & Foo Fighters.  It prepared Jimmy to be comfortable holding a microphone and a holding a conversation.

He thought, “What if we could talk to the leading minds in PT, in a relaxed and conversational format like we were sharing a pint of beer with them?”

Apparently we can. After the first month of episodes they had more than 10,000 downloads & have interviewed some of the top minds in Physical Therapy, with many more to come.

As of July 2017 PT Pintcast has been heard in 125 different countries & downloaded more than 615,000 times.
